Mike graduated Magna cum laude from Tufts University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2006.
He pursued a Graduate degree in Immunology as part of a partnership between the University of Pennsylvania and the National Institutes of Health, and received his Ph. D. in 2015.
Mike's graduate work under the mentorship of Dr. Yasmine investigated how acute and chronic infection functionally educates monocyte development and results in the emergence of monocyte populations with enhanced regulatory function. This work received multiple awards and was published in the June 2015 of Immunity. Medline Link
His current research under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Sansing and Dr. David Hafler focuses on the role of monocytes in mediating both inflammatory responses and wound healing after hemorrhagic stroke.
Mike is a diehard fan of the New England Patriots, but finds time to go hiking and go to the theater once football season ends.
