Dr. Lynnette Averill is experienced in translational clinical neuroscience, and is an expert in the evaluation of neurocognitive symptoms and the clinical assessment and treatment of PTSD, suicidality, and other trauma- and stress-related psychopathology. Her work focuses on pharmacoimaging trials evaluating rapid-acting glutamatergic-based drugs (e.g., ketamine) on reductions in suicidal ideation and cognitive function and the neural underpinnings (e.g., synaptic connectivity) of these behavioral changes.

  • Anxiety and Depression Association of America - Vice Chair, Genetics & Neuroscience Special Interest Group (SIG) (2018 - Present) The Genetics and Neuroscience SIG brings together researchers who are broadly involved in the biological science of anxiety and depressive disorders. This includes clinical and basic neuroscience (electrophysiology, imaging, animal models, experimental paradigms) and genetics (twin and family studies, molecular genetics, endophenotypes).

  • Source Research Foundation (2018 - Present) Founded in 2017, Source Research Foundation (SRF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization that aims to connect, inspire, and support students who study the epidemiology, phenomenology, and the environmental, cultural and clinical contexts of psychedelic use, and to develop a virtual collaboratory of students, scientists, and community members who are passionate about psychedelic science.

Our current work is focused on further validation studies of the Opioid Abuse Risk Screener (OARS) and working with collaborators to get this integrated into clinical practices in an attempt to improve opioid prescribing practices and improve assessment tools for risk stratification.
