Luis Abegão, PhD

Postdoctoral Associate

Luis completed his Integrated Master in Physics Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology, New University of Lisbon (2012). He pursued his Ph.D in Experimental Physics at Federal University of Sergipe - Brazil, with thesis in “Nonlinear Optical Characterization of Organic Molecules: Chalcones and Oxazoles Dyes.” (2017). He joined Francesco D’Errico Research Group at Yale School of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Associate in 2018, where he his involved in research concerning the development of radiation imaging detectors.

His research interests include multi-photon absorption and second- and high-order harmonic generation of organic and inorganic compounds, random laser phenomena, as well the development of optical and/or photonic techniques for (bio)sensors applications. The simulation of two-photon absorption and first molecular electronic hyperpolarizabilities, using Gaussian 09, is also one of his research interests.

Luis enjoys travel in order to better understand the diversity of culture and customs of this amazing planet.
