Jason Berk obtained a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Connecticut and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. His doctoral training focused on the function of emerin, a human disease associated, inner nuclear membrane protein. Currently, using a structure-function approach he is attempting to elucidate the mechanism/s of substrate recognition by the membrane embedded E3 ubiquitin ligase, Doa10.
