Erica Ahlert-Smith, MD


Erica Ahlert-Smith, MD is board certified in General Psychiatry. She worked for three years seeing students in the Department of Mental Health and Counseling at Yale University Health Services before moving into private practice. Currently she sees patients for psychotherapy, medication management, and consultation to other professionals. She specializes in treatment of adolescents and adults. She also teaches the Introduction to Psychotherapy lecture series to students at Yale School of Medicine.

Clinical interests include issues of depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment to school and college, coping with medical illness, children of divorce, attention/hyperactivity, impulse control, and pre/postnatal issues.

Dr. Ahlert-Smith is the recipient of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society Roger Coleman Memorial Award for Service to Patients (2013), AMA Rock Sleyster Memorial Scholarship in Psychiatry (2003), the American Academy of Neurology Medical Student Prize for Excellence in Neurology (2003), and the MUSC College of Medicine Dean’s Award Full Tuition Scholarship (1999-2003).
