Biography

Shevonne joined Project ASSERT in 2015, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in mental health, substance abuse and behavioral health insurance to her role as a Health Promotion Advocate. Shevonne obtained her Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, as well as an Associate Degree from Gateway Community College in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, she facilitated multiple groups, individual sessions, completed intake assessments, treatment plans and collaborated with community providers to connect patients to services. Shevonne has more than twelve years of experience working at ValueOptions as a Clinical Liaison, Appeal specialist and Claims Researcher. She also served on the Community Care Team at Middlesex and Yale-New Haven Hospital, which is a community-based model of integrated care for the community’s most vulnerable patients. Her greatest passion is helping individuals access appropriate treatment and living their life to the fullest potential.
