Biography

Dr. Robert Dudas will serve as the site investigator at Johns Hopkins University. He is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) and is responsible for the clinical care delivered in both the emergency and inpatient departments. JHBMC currently utilizes telemedicine technologies to link both departments to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center (JHCC) pediatric intensive care unit for consultations on critically ill children. In addition, Dr Dudas serves as an invited faculty member to teach simulation-based courses to pediatric hospitalists providing care in community hospitals in Maryland. Dr Dudas is part of a multi-disciplinary team that is conducting research utilizing simulation technologies to demonstrate the effectiveness of providing real-time remote critical care consultation via telemedicine to community hospital general emergency departments. His interests in medical education include having co-developed the PRECEDE curriculum for the School of Medicine for which he now directs the Pediatric component. This required course teaches advanced clinical skills development by utilizing simulation-based education including partial-task trainers and high-fidelity mannequins. Dr Dudas’ scholarly interests are in medical education with a focus on simulation technologies in and telemedicine applications in community hospitals. As a co-investigator he will combine his experience as a provider of emergency care in a community hospital that utilizes telemedicine with his expertise in educational methodologies and simulation research.
