Clinical Program
Our clinics are located at the Pediatric Specialty Center, 1 Long Wharf Drive on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons and at the Pediatric Specialty Center, Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital (1 Park Street) on Wednesday mornings and afternoons.
Diagnostic procedures including percutaneous kidney biopsy and imaging studies are performed at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.
Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) services at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital include: peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis continuous venous-venous hemodiafiltration (CVVH) and kidney transplantation.
The care and management of children with end-stage renal disease, including home dialysis therapies and renal transplantation, are specifically designed to meet the needs of children and their families. Our Renal Transplantation Program, the first children transplant program in Connecticut, is jointly managed by Pediatric Nephrology faculty and colleagues at YNHH Transplant Surgery. All children who receive a renal transplant are cared for in age-appropriate pediatric units, where a special emphasis is placed on their medical and psychosocial needs.
Chronic hemodialysis is provided at DaVita Healthcare Center, and chronic peritoneal dialysis training and monitoring are performed at a dedicated Chronic Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) unit.
The evaluation and care of children with urinary tract abnormalities is coordinated and jointly managed by Pediatric Nephrology faculty and our Pediatric Urology colleagues.
