Healthy Lives Curriculum

In 2016, we launched a new curriculum designed to engage our residents in exploring the ways in which our patients' health is determined by the communities in which they live: their families, neighborhoods and cultures. Healthy Lives experiences allow residents opportunities to learn about and contribute to the missions of other agencies and programs in New Haven designed to meet the needs of children and families. Each resident has dedicated half-day blocks during outpatient rotations that are set aside for Healthy Lives activities. Residents participate in a broad range of learning and service opportunities including helping families to receive deserved resources through StreetCred, mentoring New Haven youth at LEAP, and teaching health classes to immigrants and refugees at IRIS, just to name a few.
