How did this fellowship help prepare you for your career & where you are working now?

Yale provided incredible training from intern year all the way to GI and motility fellowship. I had excellent exposure to all parts of GI and felt very comfortable starting as an attending. They also provided an environment where it is ok to ask questions. People here are just excited to teach. I loved Yale so much that I stayed on as a Motility faculty member and continue to love working here!

Can you share a fond memory of your fellowship at Yale, or something you miss about it?

I remember when I first completed a colonoscopy on my own without help from an attending, I got several texts from many faculty members congratulating me. I remember feeling very loved and appreciated, which is so important in fellowship. People here really want to see you succeed here and help along the way.

Why would you recommend Yale for someone interested in doing a fellowship in pediatric GI?

I would recommend Yale to anyone. It's a place with many opportunities to grow and an environment with people who are truly lovely to work with. There was not a person in our group that I did not enjoy working with and it was great to learn from everyone's different perspective. The exposure to clinical medicine is excellent, and the mentorship is hard to beat.

Anything else you may want to share!

I think the most important factor when choosing a place to train is to find an environment that you would feel comfortable learning in. You will not always know the answer, and you want to be surrounded by people who always want to help. There is not a faculty member in our group that would not discuss a case or give advice if needed at any time. I think that is special.
