Health Equity Rounds

Health Equity Rounds (HER) is a longitudinal, case-based conference series and curriculum, built on the belief that medical education has the power to improve health equity by incorporating discussions of bias and racism into department-wide conversations.

HER was developed by trainees in the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center and its curriculum has been adopted at several other medical centers (Children's National, Duke University, Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and Boston Children's Hospital). Two of their creators, Dr. Katherine Nash and Dr. Destiny Tolliver, have collaborated with Yale Pediatrics to introduce HER and integrate it into our DEI curriculum. HER is now an integral part of medical grand rounds.

Prasanna Ananth, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology/Oncology)
Dr. Prasanna Ananth is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist. As a specialist caring for children with cancer and blood disorders, she says that helping children and families cope with serious illness provides inspiration for her patient care and research. Dr. Ananth is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hematology/Oncology). Her research focuses on evaluating and improving care for children with advanced cancer.
