Dr. Durant is a resident physician in Laboratory Medicine with a clinical focus in clinical microbiology and chemistry/toxicology. His primary research focus is in clinical informatics, using novel data management technology and machine learning to enhance quality improvement and business intelligence for laboratories and patient care. Ongoing projects involve the investigation of stream processing of interface data, adapted to the study of moving averages and automated curation of antibiogram data. Machine learning related projects include the use of 'very deep' convolutional neural networks for automated classification of digital images acquired in the clinical laboratory.
