The American Association for Cancer Research recently announced awards to support three young scientists from Yale Cancer Center to attend the 2022 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in New Orleans from April 8 to 13.
Fernando de Miguel, PhD, an Associate Research Scientist in the Politi Lab, Meaghan McGeary, a PhD candidate in the Bosenberg Lab, and Matt Murray, a PhD candidate in the Bindra Lab, are headed the AACR Annual Meeting.
Dr. de Miguel received the Scholar-in-Training Award. These awards are highly competitive and recognize outstanding young investigators presenting meritorious proffered papers at the AACR Annual Meeting. Dr. de Miguel is among the authors/presenters of a poster session on Lung Cancer Treatment Resistance entitled “SMARCA4-mediated chromatic remodeling regulates Osimertinib resistance in EGFR-mutant lung adenocarcinoma.”
Ms. McGeary received the Women in Cancer Research Scholar Award. These awards are given to members of Women in Cancer Research who are scientists-in-training and presenters of meritorious scientific papers at AACR Annual Meetings.
Ms. McGeary is the first author of a poster session on Tumor Antigens, an Antigen Presentation and a Tumor Immunity session entitled, "Setdb1-loss reactivates ERV expression and interferon signaling to induce immune-mediated melanoma clearance” Ms. McGeary is also among the authors/presenters of a poster session on Molecular Signaling and Metabolic and Epigenetic Regulation on Adaptive Tumor Immunity entitled “T cell memory and the critical effectors of successful anticancer immune response.”
Mr. Murray received the Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Award. These awards seek to increase the scientific knowledge base of minority scientists and to encourage them to pursue careers in cancer research. Mr. Murray is among the authors/presenters of a poster session on Nanotechnology Drug Delivery entitled “Exploiting mutant PPM1D-induced metabolic defects with nanoparticle-encapsulated NAMPT inhibitors.”
The AACR Annual Meeting enables the cancer research community – scientists, clinicians, other health care professionals, survivors, patients, and advocates – to gather to share the latest advances in cancer science and medicine. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Decoding Cancer Complexity/Integrating Science/Transforming Patient Outcomes.”
Yale Cancer Center will be well represented at the AACR Annual Meeting as faculty members and researchers will be presenting education sessions, poster sessions, mini symposiums, major symposiums, forums, and methods workshops.
