Yale Physician Associate students complete their clinical rotations in a variety of clinical venues. Inpatient settings include tertiary care hospitals, community hospitals and long term care facilities in the State of Connecticut. Outpatient experience is gleaned from rotating in community health clinics, the University health plan, the mobile health van and in some instances private practice settings. All of the mandatory rotations and most of the elective rotations are completed in the State of Connecticut with the exception of primary care sites in Maine and Kentucky.
Institutions such as Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale Health, the Hospital of St. Raphael and Nathan Smith Clinic are within the city limits of New Haven. Clerkship sites within commuting distance of New Haven include Bridgeport Hospital, Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and Norwalk Hospital, Northeast Medical Group Clinics (NEMG) and other private practices.
Rotation sites around the state of Connecticut include:
- New Haven
- West Haven
The majority of the clinical preceptors are full time, ladder faculty with the Yale School of Medicine. Some sites afford students the opportunity to work with teams of medical staff including medical students while others provide one-on-one tutelage with a physician or physician assistant.
