Biography

Bernadette Nwokeji is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering and an Education Studies, Intensive certificate. Energized to advance medical breakthroughs, Bernadette enjoys crafting solutions that highlight the intersection of physiological knowledge and engineering techniques.

Prior to Yale, Bernadette engaged in public health efforts. Through working with the Florida Department of Agriculture Consumer Services, Senator Shevrin Jones, and Representative Amber Mariano, Bernadette co-authored and introduced bills into the 2022 Florida Legislative Session as SB 1450 and HB 1311, respectively; SB 1450 and HB 1311 aimed to decrease the number of food deserts in Florida. Her current research interests are the following: pediatrics, medical device design, health policy, regenerative medicine, and education. While her research interests underscore her various passions, they all coalesce on her ultimate aspiration, resolving healthcare challenges.
