Uma Reddy, MD, MPH, and team have launched the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network ADEPT trial at Yale New Haven and Bridgeport Hospitals. ADEPT stands for Aspirin Dose Escalation for the Prevention of recurrent preterm delivery. This multicenter randomized trial compares 81 mg of low-dose aspirin to 162 mg given daily to determine whether a higher aspirin dose reduces the risk of recurrent preterm birth among high-risk pregnant individuals.

Tulin Ozcan, MD, Yale Ob/Gyn's director of Diabetes in Pregnancy Program, invites referrals to the DECIDE trial. DECIDE is a large multicenter randomized study conducted across 24 clinical sites in the United States, which aims to compare the effectiveness of metformin versus injectable insulin for the management of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) between 20-33 weeks.

This year's Greenwich Hospital (GH) fundraising event will directly benefit their labor and delivery/NICU construction fund, as well as the Smilow Cancer Hospital at GH construction fund.

Ferries-Rowe (left) and Volovsky officially joined Yale Ob/Gyn as faculty on July 1.

Ferries-Rowe comes to us from Indiana University School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree, completed her residency training, and served as an associate professor.

Volovsky recently completed her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) at Yale and will continue in the REI division as an instructor.

Pardanani will be joining the department's residency leadership team as an associate residency program director alongside Aaron Lazorwitz, MD, PhD — both under program director Iman Berrahou, MD. Before coming to Yale in January, Pardanani was residency program director at Stamford Hospital. She will officially assume the position in January 2027.

Blanchette (pictured left) has been named the new chief of ob/gyn at Yale Health after Joanne Knudson, MD (pictured right), retired from a 35-year career there.

We wish to thank Knudson for her years of exemplary service and partnership with the department.

Blanchette joined the Yale Health practice in 2021. She is a third-generation ob/gyn physician in her family. She attended Albany Medical College and completed her residency and an obstetrics hospitalist fellowship at NYU Winthrop.

Longtime Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) labor and delivery nurse Ellen Cappiello passed away on May 17 at her home in Delaware. She led multiple floors and departments during her tenure at YNHH.

She is buried in Branford's St. Agnes cemetery. Read her full obituary.

Taylor was one of only nine recipients (one of two from the department) who recently received the highly competitive accelerator award from the Blavatnik Fund for Innovation at Yale. His project on "Leveraging the Immune System to Treat Endometriosis" is studying antibody treatments.

Yang also received one of this year's Blavatnik Accelerator Awards. Faculty recipients receive $30,000 to generate validating data, which makes them eligible to apply for the larger development awards in the fall. Her gene therapy work is looking at "Restoring Fertility in Women at Risk for Early Ovarian Failure."

Yang was recently named a Reproductive Scientist Development Program (RSDP) award winner, as well. The RSDP is an NIH/NICHD-sponsored K12 training program dedicated to mentoring the next generation of physician-scientists.

She is the second faculty member, just this year, to receive the prestigious award. Michelle Volovsky, MD, was also an RSDP recipient earlier this spring.

Finally, Yang was a 2026 Yale Pepper Award winner and joins their group of education core scholars, focused on aging research.

Rainford was recently the first place winner of the Health Pitch Contest during this year's Yale Ventures Innovation Summit (pictured) and the Gold Award winner during the 2026 Yale New Haven Health Innovation Awards. Both honors were for her maternal initiative, Enrich Health.

Papatla (pictured far left) and her interdisciplinary YSM partner, therapeutic radiologist Sanjay Aneja, MD (pictured far right), recently won a Women's Health Research at Yale pilot award for their work to find new imaging biomarkers for ovarian cancer.

Pathy was part of the team that won the Innovation in Education poster during Yale School of Medicine's Medical Education Day in June. Their topic covered "Hormones Across the Spectrum of Care: An Interactive Curriculum for Internal Medicine Residents."

Upadhyay was selected for the prestigious Doximity Op-Med Writing Fellowship from a record number of applicants this year. The highly competitive national fellowship recognizes a select group of physicians and trainees across specialties and training levels. During the fellowship, he will contribute monthly opinion pieces and essays to Doximity, the professional medical network serving more than one million clinicians.

Yale New Haven Hospital's (YNHH) lactation team has received the International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Care Award, which recognizes excellence in lactation support and care for families.

YNHH also became the first hospital in Connecticut to earn certification for its Pregnancy After Loss Clinic through the U.S. Pregnancy After Loss Network.
