Tampi Selected to Receive 2022 George Tarjan Award

Rajesh R. Tampi, MD, Professor Adjunct of Psychiatry, has been selected to receive the 2022 George Tarjan Award from the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and APA Foundation.

The award is named after APA’s first international medical graduate president and was established in 1992. It recognizes a physician who has made significant contributions to the enhancement of the integration of international medical graduates into American psychiatry.

The award includes an honorarium and plaque which will be presented at the APA Annual Meeting to be held May 21-25, 2022, in New Orleans.

Tampi is a Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He is Chair of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Akron, Ohio, and Chief of the Section for Geriatric Psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He maintains a faculty appointment in the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
