Celebrating 25 Years at Yale: Beth Weinzimmer Shares Her Experience

Beth Weinzimmer, a Yale Ob/Gyn clinical division administrator, is now part of a special group at Yale. She has celebrated 25 years of service at the university—the last eight with the department.

At a recent recognition lunch, supervisors shared high praise.

“Thank you for all that you do and the impact you have on our patients, staff, and the hospital,” said Eunice Yang, MPH, Yale Ob/Gyn’s associate director. “We are so grateful that you are a part of our leadership here.”

Senior Director Madeleine Sparf, MBA, added her appreciation of Weinzimmer’s consistent commitment to rise to any occasion. “I’m looking forward to working with you for many more years,” Sparf said.

The Connecticut native began her career at Yale working in the School of Management's business office. Eventually, she transitioned to operations manager at the IT helpdesk. She joined Yale Ob/Gyn in 2017 and currently oversees the maternal-fetal medicine, obstetric specialties & midwifery, and pediatric & adolescent gynecology sections.

“Through professional relationships and taking calculated risks on various opportunities, I was able to advance in different roles,” Weinzimmer says. “When I was thinking about getting out of IT, I was hesitant at first, convinced I was stuck in that field. I am so grateful for the opportunity I was given to join Yale Ob/Gyn.”

And she has sage advice for others: just go for it.

“You could be surprised by the opportunities that someone is willing to give you and the places it will lead you,” Weinzimmer recalls. “I remember Colleen Goble [head of the department’s faculty and staff affairs] saying in my interview, ‘People come to work at ob/gyn and don’t leave.’ She was spot on,” exclaims Weinzimmer. “We are surrounded by some awesome coworkers and brilliant physicians with a lot of character. Yale Ob/Gyn really is a great place to work!”
