January 15, 2020

Amir Garakani, MD, DFAPA, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, will be inducted into the American College of Psychiatrists at the organization’s Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on February 20.

The college is an honorary association that provides its members continuing education, promotes the latest advances in the specialty, and supports the highest standards in psychiatry. Membership is limited to psychiatrists who have demonstrated outstanding competence in the field and who have achieved national recognition in clinical practice, research, academic leadership, and teaching.

The hospital and Yale Department of Psychiatry, Yale Medicine, and Yale New Haven Health are partners in The Steward House at Silver Hill, a transitional living program exclusively for leaders to rediscover and strengthen the skills necessary for long-term recovery and wellness.

Garakani maintains private practices in New Canaan and New York City. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry. He has received several awards, participated in NIMH-funded research, and is first or co-author on over 40 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.
