New Volunteer Leadership to Kick off another successful fundraising year

September 20, 2022

Coming off the most successful fundraising year in its history, the YSM Alumni Fund has kicked off FY23 with new volunteer leadership.

Mark L. Meyer, M.D. ’94, J.D. ’98, newly appointed Chair of Agents, will assist the medical school’s effort to raise unrestricted financial support by engaging and supporting a roster of Class Agents (alumni volunteer fundraisers). A class agent himself since 2015 and then co-chair of agents beginning in 2019, Dr. Meyer will serve a two-year term in this role.

A loyal Alumni Fund donor for over twenty years, Association of Alumni in Medicine (AYAM) elected member, and past reunion gift chair, Dr. Meyer understands the importance of a strong annual fund and has inspired many alumni to join him in his philanthropy. He has strong ties to the medical school and is continually seeking opportunities that will directly benefit our students, faculty, and alumni.

Dr. Meyer will work alongside the inaugural Vice Chair of Agents, Alexi Nazem, M.D. ’12, B.S. ’04, to support the Chair and the YSM Alumni Fund staff in its fundraising efforts. Dr. Nazem will engage volunteers to foster relationships and strengthen connections to the school.

The former YSM co-Chair of Agents, Philip Lebowitz, M.D. ’72, supported the efforts of 85 plus alumni volunteers over five years to help the Fund raise over $5.7 million! A consistent annual fund donor for 30 years and a leadership donor for more than two decades, Dr. Lebowitz is a perennial advocate for the Alumni Fund. We are grateful for his service and tireless efforts in support of the Alumni Fund.

On behalf of the YSM alumni community, we congratulate Dr. Meyer and Dr. Nazem in their new volunteer leadership roles. We are grateful for their time and energy and look forward to connecting them with our community of class agents in support of YSM.
