Catiele Antunes, MD

Catiele Antunes graduated from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Along with her medical training, she did research investigating pathways involved in pain signaling and appetite control. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center where she was later appointed as Chief Resident. She then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital under the supervision of nationally and internationally recognized mentors. She is interested in neuronal mechanisms contributing to GI pathologies and has an interested in motility disorders, especially diseases affecting the esophagus. She has received several awards including multiple teaching, research and professionalism awards. She has written several research articles and book chapters and is an active member of GI societies. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking and cooking plant-based meals, hiking and road cycling.
