Term Extensions

Other than continuing or tenure appointments, ladder track appointments are made for defined periods of time. Some tracks and ranks have maximum numbers of years in rank and others are renewable without limit (delineated in Tracks, Ranks, and Positions).
Terms (and maximum years in ranks) may be extended by up to a total of three years for time during which the faculty member:
- Has taken a leave of absence for public service.
- Has taken an approved Child Rearing or Caregiver’s Leave of at least six weeks.
- Related to COVID with specifications delineated by the provost.
Extensions of term need to have the Term Extension Request form completed, submitted, and approved.
