Erica L. Herzog, M.D., Ph.D. ’05, associate professor of medicine (pulmonary), has won the Jo Rae Wright Award for Outstanding Science, given by the American Thoracic Society (ATS).

The prize is named after a former ATS president who was known for her commitment to the advancement of science and to mentoring future scientists. Herzog received the award on May 17 at the ATS International Conference in Denver.

Herzog directs the Yale Interstitial Lung Disease Center of Excellence and co-directs the Yale Fibrosis Program. Her lab focuses on the relationship between neuronal guidance proteins and aberrant repair and remodeling responses in a variety of fibrosing lung diseases, including Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, scleroderma, and sarcoidosis.
