To the YSM Community:
I write to share with you the draft refresh of the Yale School of Medicine Strategic plan. This plan began with the chairs retreat in June 2024 and reflects initial input from approximately 700 survey participants and 100 interviews, followed by robust conversations among 21 focus groups including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members. As a “refresh,” the plan links to recently articulated strategies for the aligned clinical enterprise and medical education.
You will find that there are several threads that run across missions of the school. These include a desire for continued enhancements in communication, mentorship, and collaboration; a priority on achieving administrative excellence; a call to invest in AI and technology; and a commitment to community engagement. I hope to update you on efforts in these areas as the year progresses.
Over the next two weeks, we ask that you review the plan and provide any additional feedback so that we can hone it further. You may do so at this link. We would like to receive feedback by Monday, Dec. 22.
Sincerely,
Nancy J. Brown, MD
