Ravven appointed Senior Medical Director at Brattleboro Retreat

Simha Ravven, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Law and Psychiatry Division at Yale, has been appointed Senior Medical Director at Brattleboro Retreat, a psychiatric hospital in Brattleboro, VT. Her appointment took effect August 8.

Ravven completed her Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale and subsequently served as Medical Director of the Brattleboro Retreat’s Birches program prior to returning to Yale last year to pursue various academic, research, and clinical interests.

She has returned to the hospital to provide clinical and administrative support to the medical staff and to assist with the implementation of strategic plan initiatives.

Her clinical expertise is in the area of forensic psychiatry, severe and persistent psychiatric illness, and substance abuse. She will help to drive important clinical initiatives related to the development and implementation of telepsychiatry programs and medical staff practice innovations at Brattleboro Retreat. She will work to strengthen the facility’s relationships with state and national professional organizations through her involvement with the American Psychiatric Association, the Vermont Psychiatric Association, and Vermont Medical Society. Additionally, she will focus on strengthening and expanding important partnerships with regional academic medical centers that will enhance education and professional training activities for the clinical staff.

The Brattleboro Retreat was founded in 1834. It provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for people of all ages and their families.
