Eunice Yuen, MD, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, was recently awarded a grant from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
Dr. Yuen is a recipient of the 2022 AACAP Advocacy and Collaboration Grant, in collaboration with Afifa Adiba, MD, associate service chief of the adolescent mood disorder unit at Sheppard Pratt, along with the New Haven Communities including Choate Rosemary Hall, the Yale-China Association and the Yale Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA). The grant, titled, “The AAPI trauma healing program: learning cultural literacy, emotional and relational health through child-parent theater”, allows the pilot creation of a digital theater intervention to improve advocacy for Asian American and Pacific Islanders’ (AAPI) children's health in response to the recent anti-Asian violence.
The grant is also in partnership with the AACAP Regional Organizations at Connecticut Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Maryland Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
The 2022 AACAP Assembly Advocacy and Collaboration Grant supports new advocacy work and improve collaboration with allied professional organization and is intended to help regional organizations engage in advocacy activities to improve children's mental health care in their state or community and require collaboration with allied consumer or professional organizations.
