Please mark your calendars for April 9, 2020, when the YSM Program for Art in Public Spaces will host a symposium: Using Art to Create a Dialogue that Fosters Diversity and Inclusion in Academic Spaces.
This event will feature a keynote lecture, Behind the Eyes and Beneath the Skin: Portraiture Under the Microscope, by Kim Sajet, director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. Ms. Sajet has 20 years of arts management experience and is the first woman to serve in this role. Her cross-disciplinary approach brings history alive by merging the traditional forms of painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking with poetry, installation art, video and performance. The keynote will take place at 4:30 p.m. The symposium will also include an interactive panel discussion with expert guest panelists followed by a reception and a student-led reflection session.
