Yale School of Medicine, Department of Surgery Welcomes Dr. Ramesh Batra

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ramesh Batra to the Yale School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. Dr. Batra joined the Department as an Assistant Professor in the Section of Transplantation.

He underwent the British system of surgical training in NHS based hospitals in United Kingdom, and was admitted to the membership of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He set the foundation and further advanced his transplant training in London at Royal Free hospital and also at Guy's and St Thomas' hospital before moving to the United States. He then completed the ASTS abdominal transplant fellowship at Mayo Clinic Arizona along with pediatric liver transplantation at Phoenix Children's hospital and was later recruited as a faculty member and transplant surgeon for the patients of Chicagoland area at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois.

Dr. Batra's expertise is in living organ donation and his interests include shortening of organ transplant waiting lists by selectively utilizing extended spectrum organs. Aside from maximizing utility, he is passionate about tackling the ethical and technical challenges of organ donation and transplantation.
