1 Minute Read

Two Yale School of Medicine (YSM) students have been recognized with the Excellence in Medical Education Award.

This new award was created in response to student requests for a way to celebrate peers who enrich the YSM learning experience through exceptional teaching, peer mentorship, and dedicated educational service. Students and faculty were invited to submit nominations.

Saeed Juggan, MD-PhD '29

Nominations in support of Saeed Juggan centered on how his deep knowledge of anatomy, combined with his approachability, development of innovative teaching tools, and commitment to mentorship have created an engaging and inclusive learning environment.

In the words of one student: “When it comes to exceptional teaching, Saeed is a role model for students and faculty alike. His incredible pedagogy and one-on-one mentorship in the anatomy lab is unparalleled. He always strives to create an inclusive environment by working with each and every student until every question is answered.”

Arielle Shibi Rosen, MD '27

Arielle Shibi Rosen’s nominations honored her as a dynamic teacher and valued mentor, as well as her significant contributions to the simulation curriculum.

One faculty nominator shared, “She is one of the most passionate and effective student teachers and mentors I have had the pleasure to work with.”

Honorable mentions

Two additional students received honorable mentions based on the strength of their nominations: Arielle Richey Levine, MD-MHS '26, and Winston Trope, MD '27.

The Excellence in Medical Education Awards will be officially presented at the Medical Education Day Recognition Ceremony on June 4, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
