Charles J. "Jack" Robbins, an MD-PhD student and member of the Rimm Lab in the Department of Pathology, was selected for a College of American Pathologists Distinguished Medical Student Award. The award recognizes medical students who demonstrate excellence, leadership, and curiosity as they explore the many paths in medicine and pathology. In his work in the Rimm Lab, Robbins pursues translational cancer research in HER2-low breast cancer, where clinicians must choose among several antibody-drug conjugates with little to guide the decision. To address this, he built Troplex, a multiplexed quantitative immunofluorescence assay that measures HER2 and TROP2 to match each tumor to the most appropriate therapy. His broader research interests include discovering biomarkers for treatment response and characterizing treatment resistance in patient tumors.
