This year’s Morris Dillard lecture, "Racial Science and Slavery in U.S. Medical Schools: A Roundtable Discussion", took place on November 30th and was cosponsored by the Section of the History of Medicine and the Program for Humanities in Medicine.
The keynote was delivered by Christopher Willoughby, PhD, a historian of slavery and medicine in the United States and a Visiting Assistant Professor of the History of Medicine and Health at Pitzer College in Claremont, California. The roundtable discussion was moderated by Dr. Carolyn Roberts, Assistant Professor of History/History of Medicine and African American Studies at Yale. Participants included Liana DeMarco, PhD and Sean Smith, PhD, both postdoctoral research associates for the Yale School of Medicine and Slavery Project, and Chinye Ijeli, MD student at Yale School of Medicine whose research interests include health equity and the politics of healthcare reform.
