Representatives of the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH) and the City of New Haven’s Office of Community Mental Health Initiatives worked with an artist to create a 50-foot mural at the corner of Blatchley and Grand avenues in New Haven.
“Las Flores de Esperanza,” a brightly colored mural painted on the side of a brick building, was created by Kwadwo Adae, a New Haven artist whose work has been exhibited throughout Connecticut and the United States.
A dedication was held in November to thank the artist and all who supported the effort.
Billy Bromage, MSW, assistant clinical professor of psychiatry, told The New Haven Independent, “This mural is about community and mental health. It’s about the idea that mental health happens in a community, a little bit through services, but really it happens in the one-on-one interactions we have with each other.”
