New Haven Voices: Two-part Panel Discussion
Session 1: New Haven Voices: Understanding Where We Live, Work, and Play
Thursday, September 8: 5:30-7:00 pm
SHM-L 115 (inside the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library)
The Office of Medical Education and Diversity, Inclusion, Community Engagement, and Equity (DICE) Office are hosting a two-part in-person panel discussion with New Haven community members about New Haven, its history, and how issues such as housing, education, safety, job opportunities, and the environment impact the health and well-being of its residents. Through this series, it is also our hope that students can better understand how they can most meaningfully contribute to the New Haven community, in their role as health professional students as well as residents of the city.
The first session will focus in particular on housing, jobs, and safety.
Panelists:
Stacy Spell, New Haven community activity; former project manager, Project Longevity-New Haven; retired New Haven Police Department detective
Melissa Mason, executive director, New Haven Works
Leslie Radcliffe, New Haven community activist; chair, New Haven City Plan Commission
Moderator: Marietta Vázquez, MD, associate dean for medical student diversity; professor of pediatrics (general pediatrics and infectious diseases)
