Desai's Grant Proposal to be Used for Mock Review of NIH Health Disparities Research Institute

February 24, 2022

A recent successful NIH K01 application by Miraj U. Desai, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry, will be used, for a three-year period, in the annual mock review of the prestigious NIH Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI).

Led by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) and Judith Arroyo, PhD, the HDRI “aims to support the research career development of promising early-career minority health/health disparities research scientists and stimulate research in the disciplines supported by health disparities science.”

Desai’s K01, “Assessing and Addressing Implicit Organizational Bias to Tackle Mental Health Disparities,” was considered by NIH reviewers to be among the first proposals in NIH history to address the urgent problem of hidden institutional bias at a larger scale.
