American Psychiatric Association Features Book Edited by YCSC Professor Andrés Martin

May 25, 2022

Yale Child Study Center’s Riva Ariella Ritvo Professor Andrés Martin, MD, MPH was recently featured via a special report, “Prescriber, Prescribe Thyself.” A lead story in Psychiatric News, the official news service of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), this report follows a book published earlier this year, “Thinking About Prescribing.” The book was edited by Martin with Shashank Joshi, MD of Stanford University and includes illustrations by YSM fifth year medical student Simone Hasselmo.

“Psychiatrists need to create a partnership that doesn’t lean on psychiatric jargon or an encyclopedic list of side effects, but instead on measured candor, vulnerability, and—most importantly—time,” states the report, which coincides with APA’s upcoming annual meeting, the world’s largest in the field.
