A Quick and Easy Way to Stay Informed About Our Practice

November 07, 2017

By Paul Taheri, MD
CEO, Yale Medicine
Deputy Dean for Clinical Affairs, YSM

You may notice some changes in the format of this newsletter. In an effort to keep you informed about the practice while recognizing the many demands on your time, we have made it easier to scroll through the newsletter and click on the stories that most interest you. In addition, we have changed the name of the newsletter to “YM Practice,” to better reflect what it is all about—namely, updates on the practice from me and from other members of the Yale Medicine leadership team. I hope you will find the new format compelling and easy to use.

I will continue to use this space to share my thoughts on our strategic direction, our progress and the challenges we face as a practice. As you will see in this newsletter, Yale Medicine continues to grow and to enhance both the patient and physician experience. Our telehealth programs are poised for expansion, and the Child Study Center is preparing to consolidate its clinical services in a new space that will improve patient care while promoting collaboration, innovation and growth. We continue working to enable our physicians to devote more time to patient care with time-saving technologies like Mobile Heartbeat, Tap & Go and virtual scribes, while also implementing new self-service technologies such as online bill pay and eCheck-In to help empower our patients.

Quality and efficiency remain among our top priorities, and we are making important strides in both areas. The clinical optimization team continues its exceptional work in helping to create efficiencies and improve quality throughout the practice, and the population health team is working with the Value-Based Payments Clinical Operations Committee to develop strategies to improve our performance in nine targeted areas.

I encourage you to scan the newsletter for updates on each of the areas mentioned above. You will also find information about the new faculty compensation principles and the extraordinary range of services available to clinical faculty through the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI).

As always, I invite you to contact me with comments or feedback about any of the items in this newsletter—or set up a time for me to visit your group, section or department for an open discussion on topics that you deem important. You can reach me at 203-785-5790 or paul.taheri@yale.edu.
