Yale Cardiovascular and Sexual Health Program

September 04, 2014

The Yale Cardiovascular and Sexual Health Program is the result of a unique collaboration between the specialties of Cardiovascular Medicine and Urology. The combination of expertise from Dr. Carlos Mena and Dr. Charles Walker focuses on the reciprocal association between cardiovascular disease and sexual dysfunction in men. Together, they offer a comprehensive cardiovascular and urologic evaluation to men with early cardiovascular or peripheral vascular disease and sexual dysfunction or without established disease but with clear risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease.

The program was created with recognition of the close interrelationship between both cardiovascular health and sexual health and the recognized impact of imbalances in metabolic health including obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, poor nutrition, and disorders related to inadequate production of male sex hormone. The goal of our program is to promote the early identification and ultimately prevention and treatment of these diseases and to foster better multidisciplinary coordination of care.
