March 10, 2021

The Yale Department of Psychiatry's Yale Doctoral Internship in Clinical and Community Psychology will welcome 14 Fellows who will spend a year training at Yale from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.

These trainees were selected from among a large pool of over 300 highly qualified candidates, the results of a national Match announced February 19. The psychology leadership were uniform in their excitement regarding the upcoming training year

"It is our honor to have matched with such an inspirational cohort!" said Amber W. Childs, PhD, Director of Training. "We're very much looking forward to learning and thinking together with this group, who prior to their arrival have been engaging in novel approaches to learning, psychotherapy treatment, and scholarship. We are eager to dive into what is sure to be a full and enriching year. On behalf of the training faculty, it will be our pleasure to usher this next generation of deep thinkers and passionate clinicians into the field of Health Service Psychology."

Dwain Fehon, PsyD, Chief of Psychology at Yale New Haven Hospital, said, "We are fortunate to receive applications from so many of the top psychology graduate students through the country. We are very excited about this year's match results and we look forward to training tomorrow's leaders in the field."

"We have had another outstanding match year in attracting an exceptional group of fellows across many diverse training sites within the Connecticut Mental Health Center," said Jacob Tebes, PhD, Chief of Psychology at CMHC.

Rajita Sinha, PhD, Chief of Psychology for the Department, said, "There are over 80 psychologists involved in this training program and their efforts have yielded an exceptional internship program that draws the best graduate students from across the country. We look forward to training the next generation of Health Service Psychology Leaders."

Psychology Fellows apply to one of nine training rotations based at CMHC and YNHH. Students typically complete this clinically oriented internship as the final year of a five-year program of graduate study, which leads to a PhD or PsyD.
