Tami Sulllivan, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, has been named as core faculty to the International Antiviral Society–USA (IAS–USA) because of her contributions regarding the intersection of intimate partner violence and HIV.
The mission of IAS-USA is to improve the prevention, treatment, care, and quality of life for people with or at risk of HIV or other viral infections and their associated health conditions through high-quality, relevant, balanced, and needs-oriented education and information for practitioners and scientists who are actively involved in medical care and research. Sullivan, a psychologist, is one of the few non-physicians on the core faculty.
Sullivan is Director of Family Violence Research and Programs at Yale and an expert on the intersection of intimate partner violence and HIV. She is studying, with Yale School of Medicine colleague Jaimie Meyer, MD, how intimate partner violence impacts HIV medication adherence and care engagement on a daily basis among women living with HIV. The study is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
