The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce Benjamin L. Judson, MD as Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology (ENT). Dr. Judson is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine and Chief Ambulatory Officer for Smilow Cancer Hospital.

Dr. Judson has, for the past 12 months, served as interim Chief for the Division. His formal appointment follows an extensive external candidate search, led by Korn Ferry consultants. Trauma Surgeon Dr. Adrian Maung led the internal search committee.

“We had a competitive roster of candidates for the position,” said Dr. Maung. “Dr. Judson was, bar none, the favored candidate across the search committee and among network leadership.”

In his short tenure, Dr. Judson has scaled Yale’s Otolaryngology services to Greenwich Hospital, and to patients in the Old Saybrook area; and laid the foundation for new, destination programs in Otology and Voice.

“We are grateful for Dr. Judson’s leadership, and we are pleased that he will continue to carry the torch for our ENT team,” said Department of Surgery Chair, Dr. Nita Ahuja. “As a busy physician, a thoughtful educator, and an engaged academician, Dr. Judson leads by example.”

I look forward to the opportunity to work with the talented faculty and staff in Otolaryngology. The Division is poised to take next steps in developing clinical programs, adding depth to the education portfolio, and expanding its scientific research endeavors.
