Gary V. Desir, MD, Paul B. Beeson Professor of Medicine, chair of Internal Medicine and chief, Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, and Deborah Desir, BA, MD, assistant professor (general internal medicine) were recently recognized by the Southern Connecticut Black Nurses Association as Community Partner of the Year for 2019.
The Desirs have worked to increase diversity across Yale in the medical, nursing and related fields and investing in the betterment of the community at large. Additionally, the pair have hosted a gathering at their home for underrepresented in medicine for nearly 25 years.
