Asnes Named Section Chief of Pediatric Cardiology

Jeremy Asnes, MD, has been appointed chief of the Department of Pediatrics Section of Cardiology and co-director of the newly-established Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital Heart Center.

Asnes joined the joined the faculty at Yale School of Medicine in 2005 and has appointments in pediatrics and internal medicine. Since 2011, he has served as director of pediatric cardiac intervention at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and is a member of the Yale Structural Heart team.

Asnes studies diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization services for children and adults with congenital heart disease. He received his MD and completed his pediatric residency from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and remained there as chief resident before completing his pediatric cardiology fellowship at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. After completing his general cardiology fellowship, he spent two years as a clinical associate and interventional cardiology fellow at the Cleveland Clinic.

Asnes serves as principal investigator for several interventional device trials including the Medtronic Harmony™ Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Clinical Study and the GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder Clinical Study: Safety and Efficacy Study of Transcatheter Closure of Ostium Secundum ASDs (ASSURED).

Asnes is set to expand programs and recruit faculty in non-invasive cardiac imaging, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac transplantation, fetal cardiology, and adults with congenital heart disease along with educational and research programs relative to congenital heart disease. He will also focus on expanding and strengthening the presence of pediatric cardiology providers throughout the region.
