May 01, 2019

Yale University’s Working Women’s Network (WWN) selected Linda Jackson, director for the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, Community Engagement and Equity at Yale School of Medicine, as its 2019 Visionary Awardee. The award recognizes “a woman who has been a champion for change at the university.” This was one of four Recognition Awards presented at a celebratory event on March 29, 2019. The awardees were selected from over fifty nominations.

In honoring her, WWN said:

“Linda Jackson, Director for the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, Community Engagement and Equity – also known as DICE - has served as a leader and visionary for diversity at the School of Medicine for over 15 years. She works tirelessly to create a community centered on equity and inclusion at YSM. Linda is very passionate about not only increasing the number of underrepresented and disadvantaged students in medicine but has gone above and beyond to make sure that these students are actually successful in their academic pursuits. She has assisted students in finding additional academic resources when needed, connected students to tutors and faculty in times of difficulty, and continues to encourage students to pursue their dreams with passion. Linda has even opened her home to medical students who were in the need of a place to stay. Her impact is not only widespread, but long-lasting. Linda’s work extends beyond the Yale campus and into the New Haven community. Linda Jackson truly wants all students to have equal opportunity to pursue their dreams and has gone beyond the call of duty to ensure the success of so many. Linda Jackson truly embodies President Peter Salovey’s commitment towards a ‘better, more diverse and more inclusive Yale.’”
