In celebration of the 100th anniversary of women at YSM, the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging has invited YSM alumna, Sharmila Majumdar, PhD, to speak at its ongoing seminar series on May 31. Majumdar will attend the June 1 symposium the following day. Majumdar is recognized, as a distinguished woman at the website, for her vision and leadership on a broad range of research projects in basic and clinical MRI. She has published hundreds of papers in highly regarded journals; was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal award by the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine; and has also received university-wide awards for her excellence in teaching. Before moving to UCSF, where she is now a professor and vice chair of Research, Majumdar began her career at Yale, first as a PhD student, then postdoc, and faculty member.
