Dr. Daniel E. Nijensohn was born in Mendoza, Argentina, where he graduated in the National University of Cuyo Medical School with an MD, as valedictorian, summa cum laude and gold medalist, first in his class. He served as foreign medical war volunteer in the 1967 Six-Day-War at the Tel- Hashomer Army Hospital, Tel Aviv, Israel. He interned at the University of Buenos Aires teaching hospitals, followed by a surgical internship at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Medical Center, Houston. He trained as a neurosurgeon at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota and got a Master of Science inNeurosurgery from the University of Minnesota (MS) and then a Doctorate from the UNCuyo (PhD) in neuroanatomy. He is Emeritus Chief of Neurosurgery, St. Vincent's Medical Center, Honorary Neurosurgeon, Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT; past staff Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale Gamma Knife Center. He is Honorary Professor, Neurosurgery, Yale School of Medicine; past president, Connecticut Neurosurgical Society.
