Yale Neurosurgery at New London serves as the extension of the Yale Department of Neurosurgery into Eastern Connecticut. The arrangement offers excellence in neurosurgical care in the New London region, staffed by experienced neurosurgeons from the Yale University Department of Neurosurgery. Neurosurgical care is provided in the community when appropriate, with seamless coordination of care to Yale-New Haven Hospital when necessary. Patients treated in New Haven may return to the New London area for follow-up care, rehabilitation, imaging, therapy, and other care as needed or desired. The goal is to provide the utmost excellence in neurosurgical care in the appropriate setting, one department in two locations. 

A full complement of neurosurgical services is provided, including brain, spine and peripheral nerve treatments, in the outpatient, inpatient, and emergency room setting. Capabilities include the surgical and non-surgical management of:

  • Spinal degenerative disease and trauma
  • Spinal infection and tumor
  • Brain tumors 
  • Strokes, brain hemorrhages, brain trauma 
  • Blood vessel abnormalities of the head and neck (i.e. carotid artery disease) 
  • Peripheral nerve problems, including, carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, and peroneal nerve entrapment
