Medical Student Education

In addition to courses and clerkships in the MD curriculum, medical students can choose neurosurgery faculty members as mentors for research conducted in the summer between first and second year, during the Advanced Training Period, and in support of their MD thesis.

Yale Medical Student Neurosurgery Clerkship Selective

Offered to any 3rd year medical student interested in becoming a neurosurgeon, this clerkship component provides comprehensive insight into the clinical neurosciences and forms a strong foundation of knowledge of neurological diseases and how they are managed both surgically and non-surgically.

Elective / Sub-Internships in Neurosurgery

Offered to and highly encouraged for any senior medical student interested in pursuing neurosurgical residency training.

Visiting International Student Elective Program

The Office of International Medical Student Education supports a robust Visiting International Student Elective Program for international students coming to Yale to do clinical electives.
