Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Soumya Yandamuri, MSE, PhD has been awarded the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Postdoctoral Fellowship. The grant, “Isolation and characterization of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein monoclonal antibodies,” funds three years and will begin in July 2021.

Kathy Umlauf Wins 2022 Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD, Excellence in Graduate Medical Education Award
Kathy Umlauf, residency and fellowship coordinator for the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation, has won the 2022 Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD, Excellence in Graduate Medical Education (GME) Award. Umlauf, who is in her 40th year at Yale, has served as the program coordinator for the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program since 2001.

Yale School of Medicine Launches Innovative Program to Attract and Retain Underrepresented Faculty
This year, Yale School of Medicine (YSM) is launching an innovative program to support the research and post-doctoral careers of outstanding research scientists called the YSM Science Fellows Program. The program is a key part of the school’s Strategic Plan for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and will recruit top PhD and MD/PhD recent graduates to engage in independent research and support them in transitioning into open faculty positions at Yale or other institutions.
Destiny Tolliver, MD, Welcomed to Health Affairs Health Equity Fellowship
Destiny Tolliver is a pediatrician and postdoctoral fellow in the National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP) at Yale School of Medicine. She attended the Morehouse School of Medicine, completed her residency in the Urban Health and Advocacy Track of the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital, and served as a chief resident at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her work through residency and chief residency focused on incorporating discussions of bias and structural racism into educational curricula, empowering physicians to gain skills to serve as advocates for their patients, and promoting diversity and inclusion within the residency program and its affiliated institutions.Source: Health Affairs
