Biography

Dr. Mishra serves as the Stroke Director at the West Haven VA Medical Center and a stroke neurologist at the Yale New Haven Hospital. As a full-time faculty at Yale University, he conducts clinical research to improve the care of stroke patients. He has over two decades of experience in stroke medicine and relevant clinical research at top stroke centers worldwide. He first earned a medical doctor degree from India (1999-2003). He then went to Switzerland for a Swiss government-funded clinical fellowship at Lausanne and a Scottish government and Glasgow University-funded Ph.D. in Medicine and Therapeutics. His PhD work informed the stroke community about using IV tPA beyond recommendations in acute ischemic stroke. This work focused mainly on why several IV tPA exclusion criteria did not have a robust scientific basis. He moved to Stanford in 2012, where he studied the role of perfusion imaging in reperfusion therapy. He subsequently served at the US FDA and then completed US clinical training at Tulane, Mt. Sinai, and UCLA before starting at Yale University. At Yale, he leads a collaborative international effort, the International Post-Stroke Epilepsy Research Consortium (IPSERC), and welcomes collaborators to participate in the International Post-Stroke Epilepsy Research Repository. He is committed to promoting the younger generation of clinical neuroscientists, helping them succeed in academic medicine.
