Izzy has worked in a large study to investigate the course of multiple sclerosis (MS) to identify predictors of future disease, along with effectiveness of current treatments for disease progression and patient disability. She is President of her local SIGN chapter, as well as the local exchange officer for an international medical school student exchange program. She was co-director of mental health and social wellness programs within the medical student committee and worked as a volunteer Vietnamese interpreter throughout medical school. She enjoys baking, cooking different cuisines, knitting and cross-stitch, piano, and the dan tranh, a traditional Vietnamese instrument.
